It's hard to choose between the class and university activity.

I can’t see the point why I was marked absent because of attending a university activity, which was intended to promote the school or our course, to make it more specific.

Next year, I don’t think I would be attending that activity still. If I would just be marked absent because of showing my concern for the school, I would better become passive to the call of the class.

This is from Archie Sangalang

I guess in this matter I have to choose class instead of university activity. There are times when there is a university activity and in that certain class hour youn have a quiz. And becauseof attending the university activity you are absent and marked zero for that quiz.
Look at how hellish was that. That is why I agreed to you on that matter we show concerns for the school yet the school shows not much concern to us. Learning is a two-way process, the student must have a good rapport to faculty and likewise faculty to students. But what can we do if academics seems hell.

its funny, its like i can hear you talking, how you write is exactly how you talk, that is actually good. well, back on your topic, i cant react much because i have no idea which school activity you are talking about, but then you'd have to learn to balance both academic and extra-curricular activities. and also, maybe you did not inform the professor for your absence. you should have communicated with that person and explain. we are mass comm. people, the first thing we should do is to communicate, haha! take it easy joowon

I understand your sentiments regarding this joowon. I also have the same experience before (actually it happened many times to me). Actually, our grievance even reached the chancellor because he was the one who requested for us to be pulled out immediately to perform on a convention. We were marked absent because we were not able to present any excuse letter informing our teacher that we won't be around for class. Well, everything was settled when we explained our part. Maybe, you should also try to explain why you weren't able to attend class in such a way that you wouldn't have to raise your voice.=)

It's good thing for us student to also participate in the extra curricular activities of the school to enhance our talents and boost our self confidence but ofcourse we should learn how to balance our time. We also must be ready for all the consequences that we may encounter like we will be excuse from our class and miss discussion worst sometimes even quiz. It's very vital that we should have a good communication with our teacher in this matter. We explain to them or talk to them in a proper way that they will understand our side. It's all a matter of setting our priorities...

i have also experience that joowon but what i did is i have talked to my professor and explained to her why i was absent. you should have done that .you should inform your professor first and tell her or him that you will be absent because you were invited to attend one university activity.

i believe that what happened to you served as a lesson. maybe next time you will know what to do. do not let yourself not participate in our school activities. just learn to balance your time for your academic and extra curricular activities.

hi joowon, before i was also experiencing what you are experiencing right now. but you know, that is really a part of our college life. the best approach there i think is to talk the professor who is concerned and try to show him the whole picture. anyway, teachers in auf are mature enough for them to understand little concerns like these. they must understand that we are also doing these extracurricular activities for us to learn the other things. i hope to see you soon next year. have a nice day and have the glorious days ahead. keep it up.

I understand what you feel joowon because I already experience to be marked absent in a subject. There are times that teachers don’t understand our sentiments. In the first place it is a school activity so there’s no reason for the teachers to mark us absent. At least they have to realize that we rarely join activities in school so there’s nothing wrong with that. The fact that we are joining in some activities they must be glad about it. Of course students would not want to be marked absent because they also prioritized their studies
